Who Does the 5k Benefit?
The race benefits ParadeRest and other local organizations. Learn more about our grants here. ​
What percentage of the funds raised will go to the race beneficiaries?
A small portion of the funds raised will be used to cover the administrative costs of the race with all remaining funds going to the identified local organizations helping our military, their families, and veterans. Learn more about those organizations here.
How much does it cost to register?
Early registration is $35. Regular registration is $30.   These fee are inclusive of all transaction coats and all registered participants will receive an official race T-shirt.
What are teams?
Teams are comprised of 3 or more participants - the registration fee is the same. Creating a team is a fun way to motivate colleagues, friends, and family to join you on race way.  Set up your own friendly competition against your colleagues.  We award our top 3 fastest teams on race day, and we post all team results following the race. ​
Can I register in person on race day?
No, you must register online or in-person at packet pick-up. Please be advised that the race has sold out in the past - we recommend registering early!
I'm not sure I've registered for this race. can you help?
 Yes of course.  Please contact us and we will attempt to get back to you in 48 hours.
Where do I pick-up my race packet?
You can pick-up your race packet during on the Thursday and Friday preceding the race. More details can be found here. 
How do I make an additional contribution?
Additional contributions may be made by clicking here or during online registration.
Is there an age requirement to participate?
No. The 5k is open to all ages, but anyone under the age of 18 needs permission from a parent or guardian.
What is the Kids Fun Run?
The Kids Fun Run is open to all ages and will begin at approximately 8:45 a.m on Research Park Blvd. Registration is free. To participate, please sign-up during online registration, or race day.
What time does the race start?
The race begins at 8:00 a.m. and due to road closures, all participants must arrive at the UVA Research Park no later than 7:30 a.m.
How do I get to the UVA Research Park and where do I park?
The UVA Research Park is located on Lewis & Clark Drive and Rt. 29 just north of the Charlottesville-Albemarle airport. Specific directions may be found here. Parking volunteers will be on hand to direct traffic. ​
May I walk the 5k, or do I have to run?
The 5k is open to runners, walkers and everyone in between. There are two course options for all participants - an all-terrain course, and an alternate, paved course. Check out the course map for more details.
May I run with a stroller?
Yes, however strollers are only permitted on the alternate, paved course.
May I run with my pet?
Only licensed service dogs are permitted on the course. ​
I have a physical disability, can I still participate?
Yes, via the alternate, paved course. If you believe you may need special assistance, please contact us.
May I observe the 5k, or do I need to register?
 We welcome all members of our community to participate in any way they can, including cheering, running, walking or volunteering. Only those on the race course need register. 
What is the post race expo?
Following the race, there will be a post race expo at Dabney Grove Pavilion, just across from the finish line. The expo will feature sponsor and community booths, food and beverage, and the awards presentation for the top finishers.  Learn more about the military and veterans by visiting the exhibits on offer.
